- Final course in a suite of 3, designed to help practitioners apply data protection principles in practice.
- Candidates must have successfully completed both the Tkm Certificate in Data Protection Compliance and the Tkm Certificate in Managing Data Protection Compliance.
- Assessment is through means of a practical, work based project based on a 3000 word written assignment, with a pass mark of 50 out of 100. Candidates are supported by the tutor throughout the submission process.
- The project takes on average 6 weeks to complete, and must be completed no later than 18 months after completion of the Certificate in Managing Data Protection Compliance. assessment is to be completed at a time that is convenient for the learner, usually 6-8 weeks after the delivery of Certificate in Managing Data Protection Compliance.
- Upon successful completion of the course the candidate is awarded with a Diploma in Managing Data Protection Compliance.

Course content
Unit 1: Data Protection Compliance
This unit is designed to equip candidates with the basic knowledge of data protection and associated legislation applicable in the UK. On successful completion of this unit, candidates will be able to apply their knowledge to simple scenarios.
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the development of data protection laws in the UK
2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of key parts of data protection and associated laws applicable in the UK.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of data protection and associated laws that apply to simple scenarios.
Unit 2: Applying Data Protection Law in Practice
This unit is designed to enable candidates to apply data protection and associated legislation in a range of scenarios and provide candidates with the skills to manage compliance. Candidates MUST have completed the Certificate in Data Protection Compliance as noted above.
Upon completion candidates will:
1. Be ale to demonstrate an understanding of the practical application of data protection and associated legislation laws in a range of complex scenarios.
2. Be able to demonstrate an understanding of managing data protection and legislation
3. Be able to demonstrate an ability to manage the risks associated with handling personal data.
Unit 3: Managing Practical Data Protection Compliance
This unit is designed to enable candidates to analyse processing contexts and apply the appropriate parts of data protection and associated legislative requirements. This unit provides candidates with the skills to assess levels of compliance and to formulate a programme of compliance activities based on risk and non-compliance.
Candidates MUST have completed the Certificate in Data Protection Compliance and the Certificate in Managing Data Protection Compliance.
1. This unit provides candidates with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to manage risks associated with personal data in an organisation context.
Unit 3: Assessment
The assessment for this course is based on the submission of a work based portfolio of approximately 3000 words. Candidates much achieve a pass mark 50 out of 100, 50%.
